Bimanual Therapy for Adults

Bimanual upper limb therapy is a specialist form of rehabilitation for adults with hemiplegia who experience movement difficulties in one hand.

Bimanual therapy consists of carefully planned and repeated practice of two-handed, or bimanual, games and activities to improve an adult’s ability to use their hands together.

Evidence reports that successful programs are required to be intensive as well as fun and motivating for the adult.

We believe that a short programme of bimanual therapy following our CIMT programmes is most beneficial to the adult and usually consists of a 1 to 2 week programme following the conclusion of our CIMT programme.

What length of programme is best?

Our therapists will recommend programme length based on their assessment findings. Generally the less functional movement to start with, the longer the programme recommendation. We offer a minimum programme length of 2 weeks – the evidence does not support any less!
