Programme Completion

On the last day of your CIMT programme many of the measurements and tests will be repeated to compare with results taken at the start of the programme. Your therapist will give you an overview of any results and may use video to show you what progress has been made. You will also be given some advice as to what to continue to practice at home, to continue building on your improvements.

A few weeks after completing the programme you will receive a questionnaire from your therapist, which charts how often and how well you now use your affected arm. It is the same questionnaire that was used in the initial assessment and on day one of the programme. Once you have completed and returned the questionnaire your therapist will produce a detailed report giving an overview of the programme, analysing the results and providing recommendations for activities to continue working on. They will include specific exercise programmes and any other guidelines to help increase the amount you use your affected arm.

You will be given your constraint mitt to take home, which you can either use to continue practicing, or as a keepsake of all your hard work!

The aim of CIMT is for you to use your affected arm more spontaneously in functional everyday tasks. By using the arm more, you will continue to capitalise on the strength and activity you have developed over the course of the CIMT programme, and build upon the new skills gained. You should also find some activities much easier now, which will have an impact on your independence and quality of life.
